About the Event

When was the last time your windscreen was splattered with insects? Our insects are in decline, so what can we do to help them? Read More...

2024 was the worst year for our iconic pollinators since records began. Data from the Bumblebee and Butterfly Conservation charities show drops of over 70% in some of our most common species in just one year. With changes to our landscape including farming intensification, habitat destruction and Earth’s climate growing ever more concerning, our winged friends need our help more than ever. Join Alex, our Public Engagement Coordinator and resident entomologist, for a look at why our beloved bugs are under threat and what we might be able to do to help them thrive once again.

About the speaker

With a masters degree in Entomology from Harper Adams University and six years worth of experience researching insects in agriculture at Rothamsted Research as well as a love for anything with six legs, Alex is working to keep FarmED as bug friendly as possible.

Please arrive at 11:45 am. The talk will start at midday, and lunch will be served at 1:00 pm.

After the talk, you will get a freshly prepared, nutritious lunch from the FarmED Cafe where you will be able to network with other guests.
