An Evening with James Rebanks

Join us as we bring the Lake District to the Cotswolds. James Rebanks will be in conversation with Patrick Neale of Jaffé & Neale Bookshop, reflecting on farming, family heritage and the future.

James farms in the Lake District, where his family have lived and worked for over six hundred years and his number one bestselling debut, The Shepherd's Life won the Lake District Book of the Year, was shortlisted for the Wainwright and Ondaatje prizes, and has been translated into sixteen languages. 

His second book, English Pastoral was also a top ten bestseller and was named the Sunday Times Nature Book of the Year and was heralded as a 'masterpiece' by the New Statesman.

His latest book The Place of Tides is a heart-warming tale of gathering eiderdown in Norway as he joins an ‘unbreakable’ woman keeping an ancient family tradition alive.

About the evening 

Enjoy a delicious pre-talk supper of slow-roasted pasture fed beef, served in a freshly baked bread bun with seasonal slaw and salads, select a 'talk & supper' ticket below, please let us know of any dietary requirements and we will ensure your needs are taken care of. 

Arrive at 6pm for food.

If you've selected a 'talk only' ticket, please arrive at 6:45pm for a 7pm sharp start. 

The bar will be open before the talk starts for drinks. 

Books will be available to purchase on the evening, with a chance to get your book dedicated by the author himself.
