Circular Waste Systems

Tumblebug draws inspiration from the humble dung beetle, they embody the essence of transformation and renewal. Join Sylvie, Founder of Tumblebug, and hear all about the future of our food waste system, which is currently geared towards large-scale collection and processing. The UK currently wastes approximately 9.52 million tonnes of food every year and Tumblebug want to ensure that this waste is turned into a valuable asset for our soils. 

Hear about their vision: recover, rotate and regenerate. Tumblebug want to uncover the hidden value of the often overlooked organic waste, and ensure that the carbon and nutrients are circulated to regenerate the soil, climate and economy. Tumblebug is currently at Blenheim Palace, trialling turning all their organic waste (food, manure and sheep wool) into material that can boost soil quality. 

After the talk, you will get a freshly prepared, nutritious lunch from the FarmED cafe where you will be able to network with other guests.

About the speaker:

Sylvie Verinder is a very accomplished environmental scientist, with over 30 years of experience, with a heavy focus on waste. Sylvie has been part of the engineering and management of landfills, and is passionate about shifting the thinking from waste to 'resource recovery'. Sylvie has also worked on developing sustainable business approaches, delivering environmental impact and life cycle assessment, along with involvement in an award-winning cicrular economy visitor centre. Sylvie is also the Founder and CTO of Tumblebug, a circular economy and food waste solution company.
