About the Event

Are you a regular visitor to the cafe, but don't quite know what happens at FarmED? Join our founder Ian Wilkinson for lunch, as he talks about what we do here, why were are busier than ever, and what you can do to get involved! Read More...

Do you come to the FarmED cafe to enjoy the views of the rolling countryside, the delicious coffee and cake? But have you considered what is happening in the soil, the hedgerows and on the fields? Did you know we have won awards for the work we are doing?

Join us for lunch as Ian Wilkinson, co-founder of FarmED, tells the story of what the farm looked like before we arrived, what has happened since, and what the plans are for the coming years. A few highlights will include learning how we have increased the number of people working on the farm from 2 to over 30, how we have increased the number of bird species from 44 to 89, and why we are quickly becoming one of the leading centres for education in the agriculture and climate sector.

About the speaker:

Ian Wilkinson, Co-founder of FarmED, along with his wife Celene, bought the farm in 2013. This was a result of working with Cotswold Seeds, a local seed merchant, for 35 years and seeing first-hand all the positive things that were happening on farmers' land as a result of these diverse mixes of seed. They wanted to create a space where people could understand what a sustainable farming and food future could look like, highlighting the array of things farmers can do, but also making it an open space where conversations and ideas can be formed without judgement. 11 years down the road and with over 25,000 visitors a year, Ian and Celene never thought FarmED would grow to where we are today.

Please arrive at 11:45 am. The talk will start at midday, and lunch will be served at 1:00 pm.
