Are you looking to acquire a new skill? Want to know how to repair walls on your land or in your garden? Or simply want to know more about these quintessential features of the Cotswold Landscape? Join us for two days to pick up this traditional skill. Read More...After the success of last year's course, we are pleased to offer another 2-day practical course introducing Cotswold dry stone walling.
Combining theory and plenty of practice, the course will give participants with little or no experience of the craft the opportunity to dismantle and rebuild a field wall using traditional techniques.
By the end of the course, participants will have understood and put into effect the key principles involved in the building and maintenance of these quintessential features of the British countryside. You’ll also have enjoyed a relaxed and worthwhile outdoor experience in the company of others.
Suitable for those who are:
- Considering a career in the land-based sector.
- Looking for a new hobby.
- Considering taking up dry stone walling in a voluntary capacity.
- Want to add to your portfolio of land-based skills.
- Just want to have a go at learning a new traditional craft.
What you’ll learn:
- The key principles and practice of dry stone wall repair and maintenance.
- How to repair dry stone walls in your garden or on your land.
- An appreciation of the importance of these structures in the rural landscape.
The course will take place at FarmED, and all necessary tools and equipment will be provided. The course will also include tea and coffee on arrival and lunch in the FarmED Cafe. Participants will receive a Certificate of Achievement on completion of the course.
Jeff Green
The course will be led by Jeff Green, a LANTRA-qualified dry stone walling professional based in Bath. Jeff holds the LANTRA Certificate of Competence in Instructional Techniques and is a professionally registered member of the Dry Stone Walling Association of Great Britain.
