About the Event
Join us for a magical evening of myths and music, to celebrate the launch of Wild Folk, a stunning collaboration between award-winning artist and writer, Jackie Morris, and acclaimed stained glass artist, Tamsin Abbott. Read More...The evening will begin with a performance from local folk duo, Silverthorne, followed by a conversation between Jackie and Tamsin about the inspiration for their book, a beautifully illustrated sequence of seven tales of transformation and power.
The fables in Wild Folk are summoned from the ancient stones beneath our feet and transformed by word and image into portals between past and future. You will meet selkies and silver trout, the black fox, the woman of flowers and Wayland, the crippled smith who can hammer metal to such airy thinness he makes his own wings.
Wild Folk is a book that is made to be looked at and held. It brings together Jackie’s words and Tamsin’s images, but the stories come from both. These are tales to make you see, listen and most of all feel the wild magic that links stone, tree, fox and star.
