About the Event
Discover how soil and gut health shape your food choices in this practical lunchtime talk, packed with actionable insights, from Lucy Williamson, author of Soil to Gut. Read More...What we eat is only part of the story. How our food is grown, processed, and understood matters just as much. In this engaging and practical lunchtime talk, Lucy Williamson, author of new book, Soil to Gut, explores the powerful connection between soil health, gut health, and our everyday food choices, along with dairy farmer Stuart Rogers, a key contributor to the Soil to Gut story.
Drawing on research, real-world examples, and her own journey, Lucy breaks down emerging research into accessible insights. She will explore how modern food systems impact our wellbeing, what “healthy eating” really means beyond trends and labels, and how reconnecting with the origins of our food can transform the way we eat. Expect practical tips you can apply immediately, whether you're shopping, cooking, or simply trying to make more confident food decisions.
The talk will cover questions such as:
- What does gut health actually mean in practice?
- How does soil quality affect the nutrients in our food?
- How can we cut through confusing nutrition advice?
- What small, realistic changes can make a meaningful difference for our health and the natural world which sustains us?
Public Health Nutritionist and former vet, Lucy is passionate about making food and health feel less overwhelming and more empowering. With a warm, down-to-earth approach, she invites audiences to rethink their relationship with food, leaving them informed, inspired, and equipped with simple, actionable takeaways which care for people and planet.
Please arrive at 11:45 am for a complimentary tea or coffee, the talk will start at midday, and lunch will be served at 1:00 pm.
After the talk, you will get a freshly prepared, nutritious lunch from the FarmED cafe where you will be able to network with other guests.
