About the Event

Do you have issues in winter with wet lying ground and poaching, or burning off and grass growth dropping off mid summer? Do you want to shorten housing period costs and grow more grass in drought with less fertiliser? If you would like grass growth like last year, every year then this course is for you. A mix of theory, practical in field observation, and discussion, the day will help you find ways to use the weather to your advantage whatever the forecast says.

We will look at the weather patterns over the last few years, how that has impacted farms and what you can do going forward to make the most of rain when it falls and keep it in the soil for when it is needed.

You will learn simple techniques to asses your pasture and soil health and what management practices need to be implemented to be able to increase grass growth, carry more stock and improve biodiversity on your farm.

This course is suitable for livestock and mixed farmers, advisors, students, graziers and those integrating livestock into arable systems.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided during the day, there will also be a farm walk and a chance to see our natural flood management scheme in action.

There are 5 BASIS points available for attending this course.
